In my mid-twenties, Erikson's psychosocial theory could have been instrumental in providing insight into my life stage and my pursuit of a sense of belonging.
I felt as though I was in a hurried race to join a religious tradition. Due to my lack of analysis and scrutiny of what was presented, I was simply too polite and eager to please others to delay my membership.
So, I joined a religious group deep down I knew I didn't belong or share the same values with these group of people they were curt and observant of me as a new member. Whenever I sought answers, I was scolded by these people effectively discouraging me from asking more questions.
Eventually, I discovered how the people in this organisation truly felt about someone who had distanced themselves from them.
The angry glares from the members of this organisation after I left were a nightmare I had to endure while going about my errands in the community. It's best to avoid joining any sect those who seek to promote their own interests are the most cunning, shrewd, and sly promoters of religious memberships.
